I have a fondness for ornament in my artwork.
I am a watercolorist and I carve and paint on Ostrich, Emu and any other type of egg I can get. The eggs I carve have that white-on-white look of carved ivory. I also paint animals such as cats, dogs, bears and camels on them.

Most of my watercolor paintings are highly ornamental. The method of introducing patterns in the background is a by-product of my travels in Africa.
While traveling, I was unable to buy art supplies, so I began to do ink sketches on the local newspaper.
To incorporate the newsprint into the rest of the composition, I used patterns adapted from tribal marks, tattoos, calabash, fabrics, rugs and architecture.
I liked this effect so much that I extended it to paintings done on regular watercolor paper too. My formal training as an art major in college has been enhanced by private lessons from (now deceased) Texas artist, Elizabeth Stetson, and on-going personal study of the works of other artists that I admire.
I work mainly in watercolor or water-based media, i.e., inks or acrylics, but have done a few pieces in oils and pencil.
